Places to visit in the Black Forest Feldberg & Feldsee

At 1,277 meters above sea level, the Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Black Forest and only a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The Feldberg is a dream destination for hikers and nature lovers from spring through summer to fall. In winter, it is a magnet for winter sports enthusiasts of all kinds.

At the foot of the Feldberg is the House of Nature. Here, visitors can learn more about the coexistence of humans and nature through many interactive elements. The "virtual balloon ride" is a particularly impressive part of this exhibition.

Up with the mountain railway The Feldsee

Various hiking trails lead up the mountain. If you want to save your energy, you can make yourself comfortable in the mountain railway first. Once you reach the top, a Black Forest highlight awaits you: the Feldsee lake at your feet. This 32-meter-deep lake is a basin carved out by glaciers since the Ice Age and one of the most beautiful Black Forest motifs.

The 360° view Feldberg Tower

The Feldberg Tower was used as a radio tower by SWR until 2001. Today, it is owned by the municipality of Feldberg and is open to visitors. Among other things, the tower houses the Black Forest Ham Museum. An elevator also takes visitors up to a viewing platform on the 11th floor, from where they can enjoy views stretching as far as the Vosges mountains in France and the Swiss Alps.

Hiking with children Wichtelpfad

At the foot of the Feldberg is probably the most beautiful themed hiking trail for children in the Black Forest, the "Wichtelpfad" (Gnome Trail). Over a length of 2.2 km, families with children can gain an insight into the life of the capercaillie and follow the story of Ferdinand the gnome postman.
On narrow paths, over thick tree roots, up and down, to the next gnome cottage. And again and again, there are other exciting highlights along the way, such as the climbing tree or the raised hide. At the end of the Wichtelpfad is a beautiful forest playground that invites you to have a snack and romp around.

Skiing, snowboarding, sledding Winter sports on
the Feldberg

With 38 ski lifts and 63 kilometers of slopes, the Feldberg lift network is the largest contiguous ski area in the Black Forest. From easy to medium to difficult slopes, there is something for everyone here. This means that families with children also get their money's worth. In addition, Feldberg is regularly the venue for various winter sports events such as World Cups in skiing or snowboard cross. You can recharge your batteries at the various snack huts and gather new strength for the next descent.
