Places to visit in the Black Forest
Vogtsbauernhöfe
Open-Air Museum
The Vogtsbauernhöfe open-air museum in Gutach provides an insight into life in the Black Forest as it once was. Six fully furnished Black Forest farms from the 16th to 18th centuries, a day laborer's house, and outbuildings such as bakehouses, distilleries, granaries, and sawmills can be admired and, for the most part, explored. Inside the houses, you can see lovingly furnished farmhouse parlors, bedrooms with painted furniture, tiled stoves, smoke kitchens, and much more. Numerous small monuments such as boundary and memorial stones, species-rich farm gardens, and typical farm animals round off the experience.
