The hike begins at Schluchsee train station and leads along the lake towards Aha. On the way, you will pass the boat rental, where SUPs, canoes, kayaks, and much more can be rented for an active vacation in the Black Forest. After a short time, you will reach Amalienruhe, one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the lake.

The trail continues past several small bathing bays, which invite you to take a break or a refreshing dip. Follow the lake shore of the Schluchsee circular trail and enjoy the silence while hiking in the Black Forest.

After a while, you will reach Unterkrummenhof, where you can stop for a leisurely Black Forest snack and then relax in a deck chair below the old Black Forest farm.

The Unterkrummenhof is a rustic snack bar right on Schluchsee lake, which can only be reached on foot, by bike, or by boat.

The Unterkrummenhof offers soups, salads, oven-fresh tarte flambée, traditional Black Forest snacks, and a changing selection of cakes.

The "picnic by the lake" is particularly popular in summer – from April to September, you can have a picnic bag filled with regional and seasonal delicacies prepared for you – including cushions and blankets, of course (advance booking required).

Children can enjoy a playground with an excavator and various animals to pet and feed.

Now you have the opportunity to give your legs a rest and cover part of the return journey on the MS Schluchsee. Everyone else returns refreshed to the circular route to walk around the large bay at the widest point of the lake and cross the Krummenbach stream.

Once you reach the dam and the MS Schluchsee landing stage, you can once again take the opportunity to cover part of the route by boat. The hike now leads over the dam on the paved cycling and hiking trail back towards Seebrugg station.

At the Seehotel Hubertus, turn off towards the parking lot and follow the Kohlgrubenweg, which takes you through the idyllic forest back to Schluchsee-Ort.

  • The Schluchsee circular trail is also ideal for dogs. Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash throughout the entire hike and that dogs are not allowed to swim in the lake.
